Troubleshooting |
Symptom
The icon in System Tray shows a red cross (), even though Prevx Home has been downloaded and installed successfully.
Resolution
Click the Security Settings tab, and see if you have any settings listed. If there are no entries, then your firewall has probably prevented Prevx from downloading them.
Allow Prevx access through your firewall, and then run Prevx update.
After the update process has finished, click the Security Settings tab and check that you now have security settings loaded, and that the red cross has been removed from the Prevx icon in the System Tray.
Symptom
I am still getting Event pop-up dialog boxes, even though the Prevx icon is not showing in the system tray.
Resolution
Prevx is still loaded, but the icon is inactive:
Expand the System Tray so that it shows all the items. You can tell if there are hidden items, by looking for the arrow to the left.
Check your System Tray properties to see if you have the Hide inactive icons option selected. If it is, then any icons that are unused for a while will be hidden. This is a feature of Windows XP:
Symptom
I've shut down Prevx Home, but the icon is still showing in the System Tray.
Resolution
You may have closed the Console rather than shut down. See "Shutting down Prevx Home" for details.
